  2. Movie Night || Kurt, Dave & Rachel

    nybound-kurt-hummel:

    starberrystar:

Rachel thought it was so sweet that David was willing to give the soy ‘meat’ a chance just for Kurt, all the more so since he seemed to be a serious ‘meat and potatoes’ kind of guy.  None of her previous boyfriends had been willing to even give it a try and she was pretty certain that Finn had forgotten entirely about her being a vegan on more than one occasion.  She couldn’t help but giggle when David gave her a suggestive wink as he commented that, “I definitely like those pants.”  She could definitely see that this was the beginning of a wonderful friendship.

She settled between them, already beginning to feel better.  David settled his arm across the back of the couch behind her, fingers curling gently in the hair at the base of Kurt’s neck.  ”So, what movie’s up first tonight?” She was up for anything, even some hardcore action and adventure… though she doubted that Kurt would be all that interested in that.

“We have it narrowed down to three - All About Eve,” Dave had been curious to see that one ever since Kurt’s comment about Santana as a Latina Eve Harrington last year in the lead up to prom, “The Pirates of Penzance… and what was the third one?” He looked to Kurt.

Kurt caught the wink that was geared towards Rachel from the side of his eye and had to stifle a grin. It was obvious that any time that had been spent worrying over the impending friendship was time wasted; Rachel and Dave were already getting along quite well. “Well,” he replied to Dave. “I thank you but I’m not sure I’m going to be using you as a fashion adviser just yet. You’d probably think that I looked good in a velvet jumpsuit.” He wrinkled his nose in show of just how appealing that idea was, though in reality it give him a slight thrill to know that his boyfriend found him attractive in more than just a contemplative type of way. Speaking of… “Rachel, did I tell you how simply stunning you look tonight? I love that color on you.” He eyed her, presumably, new shirt for a moment longer before turning away.

He leaned into Dave’s touch and thus moved closer to Rachel, placing his head against hers. “The third choice is Victor/Victoria.” It was a favorite of his and he would forever swear that his middle name, Elizabeth, was an allusion to the legend that was Julie Andrews. “I think we’re leaving the final choice up to you, though you’re free to volunteer a replacement if you want.” The main goal of the night was to let her relax a bit, something Kurt felt that she probably very much needed.

Dave chuckled.  Kurt would look good in a velvet jumpsuit… he would look good in absolutely anything, really.  He sincerely doubted that there was a look that Kurt couldn’t completely rock.

Rachel looked down, having already forgotten what she was wearing, smiling.  ”Thank you.”  It was a shirt that she had gotten not too long ago, similar to one that Kurt had suggested she buy the last time that they had been shopping together but in a color that was distinctly more Rachel than Kurt.  She considered the movie choices.  They were all good.  ”Hmmm, I think that we should start with Victor/Victoria.”  She knew that it was a favorite of Kurt’s and she was fairly certain that David would enjoy the humor in it as well.  And who didn’t love Julie Andrews?

  4. Movie Night || Kurt, Dave & Rachel

“Only for you,” Dave chuckled.  There was no one else in the world that he would be willing to try soy based meat for other than Kurt (and Rachel by extension, he supposed).  Then again, tons of people lived completely meat free for years, so it couldn’t be all bad… right?  ”I’m… gonna guess those are designers or something?”  He knew that Kurt was good at the whole fashion thing and had heard him comment on Rachel’s outfits enough to know that she wasn’t, but that was pretty much the extent of his knowledge.

Rachel was tired.  Emotionally, she was completely exhausted, but that didn’t keep her from smiling sweetly with genuine happiness when Kurt reintroduced them.  ”David, it’s a pleasure to officially meet you.  It’s an honor to finally get to know Mr. Mystery himself.”

That got a chuckle and a slight eye roll from Dave.  She really did always talk like that.  ”Likewise, Princess.”  No one called him David except his mom when she was upset with him about something, but then from what he knew of her, Rachel had a tendency to go her own way.  One more way that she was a lot like Kurt.

“You’re sweet to eat soy meat for me.” Personally Kurt liked the pizzas without faux meats on them the best but that was simply because the flavors were outstanding without the added heaviness that was added with meat. “If you don’t like it, you can try the pizza Rachel and I are getting. It’s white garlic sauce, sun dried tomatoes, pineapple, and spinach,” he offered. “And yes. Those are designers. Alexander McQueen is the one who designed those striped jeans I have, as well as that sweater that made you think that someone had grabbed me with flour on their hands.” It was cute watching Dave try to keep up with his fashion tastes and Kurt knew that he probably would never get it all straight, but he loved him for trying.

Kurt’s lips turned up at the reference to Mr. M. He had made a slight archive online to reference the period of time and often went back to reread their flirtations, starting with the very first love poem. This probably wasn’t an appropriate time to think about that though and he gave himself a slight shake so that he could pay attention to the conversation. “Come on.” He tugged lightly on Rachel’s arm, pulling her down to sit between him and Dave. “I’m so excited for this.” He grinned at both of them, probably looking manic, but he couldn’t be bothered to tone it down. This night was going to be perfect.

  5. A New Beginning || Faberry

    quinn-hasthebeat-fabray:

    starberrystar:

Rachel set two alarms for Monday morning.  Her father’s had soundproofed her room last year after one too many complaints from the neighbors about her early morning singing, so her first alarm was heard only in her room.  It went off at five, giving her time for her elaborate morning routine (though not as elaborate as her before bed routine) - a wheatgrass shake started her off, giving her the energy for her morning workout routine of 20 minutes of bracing cardio on the elliptical machine followed by 15 minutes of yoga, after which she took her morning shower.  An energetic round of vocal warmups accompanied the stream of water which cascaded over her.  She washed and dried her hair, moisturized and then brushed her teeth before selecting her outfit for the day.  Once dressed, she opened her door so that the second alarm could be heard down the hall in Quinn’s room, and then she did her makeup and put on just a tiny spritz of scent before taking a moment to check that her bookbag was packed with everything she would need for the day.

Leroy was just about to leave for the office when she made her way down the stairs and she wished him a good day with a hug and a kiss to the cheek.  Hiram had shifted his schedule around at the museum so that he could leave a bit later than usual so that he would be around until after the girls went off to school.  ”Morning, Quinn,” Rachel greeted, eyes lighting up in a smile upon seeing Quinn.

Standing up, she took in a deep breath. Today was the first day she was going to school  after ‘having her accident’ as some people said. Quinn wanted to go to Rachel, stand next to her, but she felt afraid. It was going to be hard, she knew that, especially with the jocks wanting to slushy her. She gave a timid smile to the brunette, glancing towards the front door. “You ready?” She asked as she headed out to Rachel’s car. She couldn’t drive herself since her car was taken away from her. Taking in another breath as she got in the car, she waited patiently until they were finally at school. She stared at McKinley High, fearing everyone inside. What was everyone going to say behind her back now?

Without looking at Rachel, she got out and took her extra back pack before stopping at the front of the car. She was scared of what was behind those doors. It made her feel small. Silently glancing to the brunette, she swallowed thickly. “See you later Rach,” she mumbled before walking off. Heading to her locker, she glanced at several people, but avoided everyone for the most part. She reached her locker without any confrontation, making her relax a little. Silently, she shoved her packs in her locker and got out what she needed. Sighing, she left and hurried to her first class with Rachel. She made her way to the seat and sat next to her. “Hi Rach,” she murmured softly.

Rachel wanted to follow after Quinn, to stay by her side the whole day and make sure that she was ok, that no one hurt her again, but she knew that Quinn needed to stand on her own.  She wanted to help Quinn, to make sure that she got better, but she knew that she had to balance that need with the knowledge that she couldn’t possibly be there for Quinn every single second of every single day.  If she tried, it would only end in disaster because it would wear on her and drag her down until she just couldn’t handle it anymore.  She might be a rather amazing young lady, but she knew she wasn’t super-human.  So she let Quinn head off to her locker, going to her own to drop off her backpack and get her books for her first class.  She allowed herself a moment, head leaned into her locker as if looking for something in the back and took a deep breath, slowly letting it out.  Right now, she should be focusing on getting her audition ready for NYADA, getting the set list planned for competition, but lately her entire focus had boiled down to nothing but Quinn.  She didn’t mind, Quinn was very important, she loved her and she was going through something huge right now, but it was a lot for Rachel to handle and sometimes it felt like she was all on her own in supporting Quinn… Quinn sure seemed to have that opinion, at least; despite Rachel’s dad’s being there, and Kurt and David and more of the glee club than Quinn probably realized.  Rachel didn’t want Quinn to see it, but this was slowly unravelling Rachel from both ends.  She was taking care of Quinn and helping her rebuild her life, but she was beginning to worry that she was losing herself in the process.

Steeling herself for the rest of the day, she finally stepped back from her locker and made her way to class, taking her seat and getting out her notebook, the cover filled with star stickers and encouraging and inspirational quotes that normally would uplift her and bring a smile to her face but today just left her feeling like they were hollow sentiments.  She looked up when Quinn arrived, smiling softly and showing none of her inner turmoil.  ”Hi, Quinn.”

  6. Movie Night || Kurt, Dave & Rachel

    nybound-kurt-hummel:

    starberrystar:

Dave hummed happily into the kiss, savoring it while he could since they probably shouldn’t be quite as coupley once Rachel got here.  That would just be rude, wouldn’t it?  As Kurt pulled back, he brushed his thumb over Kurt’s cheek, returning his smile.  ”No fake meat pizza, that would just be a tragedy.”  Hey, he had promised that he would give the vegan pizza a try, he had never said anything about not giving Kurt crap about it while he did.

“She kind of is like a girl version of you… minus the fashion sense.”  Maybe he really did have nothing to worry about in getting along with Rachel.  ”…Britt’s trains of thought fascinate and terrify me.”  He chuckled at Kurt’s excitement when the knock came at the door.

When the door opened, Rachel flung her arms around Kurt, pecking him lightly on the cheek.  ”I’m here!  It has been far too long.”  Lately almost all of her time had been spent with Quinn.  Outside of her individual therapy sessions and the few classes that they didn’t share, they barely spent a moment apart.  As much as she loved Quinn, it was starting to wear on her, so she really needed tonight.  Even her therapist had agreed, saying that it wasn’t good for Quinn and Rachel to rely so exclusively on one another; that their individual support networks needed to branch off separately at times.  She felt bad that she agreed so strongly with Dr. Lewis on the matter, hated how much it was starting to feel like she had to be the one that was there for Quinn, afraid to do even the slightest thing wrong for fear of breaking her all over again.  But she wasn’t going to dwell on that, not tonight.  ”Fabulous.  Pineapple and spinach sounds absolutely wonderful.”  She followed Kurt back into the living room, waving to David in greeting.

Kurt smirked at Dave’s teasing, knowing he probably wouldn’t enjoy it as much as an actual meat lover’s pizza. All of the meats would be soy based, which was an extremely odd taste for someone who wasn’t accustomed to it. It had taken himself several months after becoming Rachel’s friend to grow use to the taste. “It would be a tragedy,” he said, poking Dave in the arm. “You haven’t lived until you tasted phony pepperoni, bogus bacon, and spurious sausage. You, my dear, will be experiencing life for the very first time tonight. I hope you’re ready to be blown away!” It was just a mark of Dave’s character that he had insisted on getting pizza from Pizza Pi as well, instead of getting a separate order from a more conventional pizza place, and he knew Rachel would appreciate the thought.

“Finally somebody gets it!” His lips curved up into a smile as he beamed at his boyfriend. Rachel’s choice of clothing was his one constant complaint, though his pleading never seemed to do any good. “If I could just get her out of her school girls skirts and animal sweaters and into some Vivienne Westwood or McQueen…” In fact there was a beautiful jacquard pencil dress that he’d had his eye on, and if he could manage to make a similar copy he was going to force Rachel into it. He shook his head to clear his thoughts, laughing at Dave’s wonderment of Brittany. “I’m convinced she’s a genius. Her responses actually make sense if you think about them; she just doesn’t see the world the way everyone else does. You should ask her about her theory of relativity one day. It’s fascinating.”

His arms wrapped tightly around Rachel’s waist, squeezing her back. “It really has,” he agreed. After their grip on each other eased, he took her hand and walked towards the living room. It was a good chance to side eye her so that he could get a grip on how she was feeling. She looked… Tired. That was the most easily observable trait. Slight shadows lined the undersides of her eyes, like she hadn’t been seeping properly, though Kurt knew it could be from worry or stress also. He made a mental note to buy her a Garnier Eye Roller on his next trip out. Finally they made it into the living room and he centered himself in between the two. “Okay. Official and awkward reintroductions. Sweetie, this is my very best friend in the entire world and musical soulmate, Rachel Berry. Rachel, this is the very best man in the world and the person who keeps me equanimous, Dave Karofksy.”

  7. Movie Night || Kurt, Dave & Rachel

    nybound-kurt-hummel:

    starberrystar:

Who couldn’t sit down while talking on the phone?  It was such a strange claim that David needed to see this for himself, snickering softly as he chased after Kurt.  He laughed all the harder when Kurt smacked him, leaning in and pecking his boyfriend on the cheek.  ”Mmm, love you too,” he grinned, enjoying the way that Kurt fit so perfectly against him, having ended up mostly in his lap when he pulled him down.  The bruises and scrapes from his altercation the week before were almost entirely healed, meaning he no longer had to worry about accidentally hurting himself from just hugging Kurt.  ”And you totally talked on the phone while sitting down.”

He was a little nervous, actually.  Sure, he had a few classes with Rachel and they were in glee club together, but they had never really interacted on a level beyond acknowledging one another’s existence.  What if she hated him?  That would make things really awkward.  ”You think so?”  He was looking forward to getting to know Rachel.  After all, if she was important to Kurt then she was important to him.

Rachel wasn’t worried.  She loved Kurt and Kurt loved David and so there was no doubt in her mind that she and David would hit it off swimmingly.  She was just looking forward to a quiet, relaxing evening with her best friend and his boyfriend.  Things at home had, understandably, been tense and in addition to just wanting to hang out with Kurt, she could really use a night away from everything else.  Arriving at the Hudmel house, she knocked to announce her presence.

Instead of responding, Kurt leaned in and captured Dave’s lips with his own. The fact that he no longer had to be conscious of his movements was a blessing and he had been doing this at various intervals throughout the night, partly just because he could and partly because he liked the element of surprise more than careful, precise moments. He let the kiss linger for a moment longer before pulling away with a smile. “Well I didn’t have much of a choice on the matter. If I wasn’t a regular, I doubt Raul would of understood the garbled stream of words that came out instead of my address. Lucky for you that I have an easily recognizable voice or there would be no faux meat pizza for you tonight.”

Kurt tucked his head against Dave’s chest and nodded slightly. “Of course I think so. If you haven’t noticed during Glee, Rachel is basically my female doppelganger; Brittany is convinced that we were originally twins and that one of us was abducted by aliens from the womb.” He rolled his shoulders back against Dave. “So really it would be like not getting along with me,” he teased. “You guys will get along great. Promise.” He placed another kiss on Dave’s lips just as a knock sounded on the door.

“That’s her!” Kurt pushed out of Dave’s arms and made his way to the door, pulling it open with a flourish. “You’re here! I feel like I haven’t seen you in forever.” The time during Glee was really too fleeting but with Rachel spending all her time helping Quinn and Kurt spending all of his time with Dave, they hadn’t had much time to hang out. “I have all the usuals sat out, along with some more action oriented movies. Oh and I went with the Rainy Day pizza tonight. I know we usually go for The Pink Lady but pineapple and spinach sounded good. There’s also an Ex-Meat Lovers coming for Dave if you want to switch it up.”

  8. Movie Night || Kurt, Dave & Rachel

    nybound-kurt-hummel:

Once again Kurt flitted out of the way of Dave’s hands as he spoke to Pizza Pi, a local pizzeria that served strictly vegan food. “Yes, that’s right. One medium Ex-Meat Lovers.” He sidestepped another assault and shook his head at Dave from the other side of the coffee table. Kurt had made the mistake of mentioning that he couldn’t sit down while talking on the phone and now it seemed that Dave was determined to prove him wrong, attempting to pull Kurt into his grasp whenever he got within arm distance. To anyone watching, it would seem that Kurt was doing some type of jerky dance that revolved around circling a table but all he was trying to accomplish was ordering dinner for the night. “I’d also like a medium Rainy Day with no onions. Can I please have that delivered to…” Just as he opened his mouth to recite the address, Dave captured Kurt in his arms and pulled him down onto the sofa. He took a deep breath, then in a rush finished his sentence. ” 415WhitmanAvenue.”

After hanging up, Kurt smacked Dave lightly on the arm with a forced glare. “Rude. Here I am, trying to make sure the love of my life and my very best friend will be well fed for the night and it becomes a game of cat and mouse.” He could hear the rumble of laughter in Dave’s chest and smiled in spite of himself. This was the first night that Rachel and Dave would be reallyhanging out. There was no Glee club or academics to act as a barrier of conversation; they would truly be in one another’s company. The thought of this had had previously made Kurt sick with nervous anticipation but tonight he felt calm. “I can’t wait,” he confessed to Dave. “You guys really should get to know each other. You’re the two most important people in my life and I know you’ll love each other!”
